Transitioning to CEO

As I take my first steps as CEO of MD Financial Management Inc., after 16 years with the company in various leadership roles, I feel strongly that it’s possible to be an agent of change and a proponent of continuity.

I’ve spoken to many people — physicians, family members, partner organizations, colleagues, competitors — during my time at MD. My main takeaways from these conversations are that MD does a great job of providing physicians and their family members with the advice and solutions they need to help them meet their financial goals, but we also have opportunities to step up our game in different areas, so we can stay close to our clients, deliver even more value and create a more connected organization.

My vision for the business is rooted in the power of collaboration — and the belief that by working together with a deep sense of purpose, we will continue to deliver the support and guidance physicians and their family members need to meet their unique financial challenges and enjoy a financially secure retirement. We intend to build on our successes and strengthen and deepen our relationships with our clients, our colleagues and our partners, so that we can continue to remove that layer of financial stress and worry from physicians, enabling them to focus on delivering positive healthcare outcomes to all Canadians.

Throughout my career, I’ve spearheaded initiatives that help put women investors and leaders at the forefront, because I believe women prioritize values when it comes to investing.

That’s what MD is. Values-driven.

I believe my background in financial planning and the fact I’ve been primarily focused on client-facing work — with a boots-on-the-ground mindset and can-do attitude — has prepared me well for this new role.

My colleagues and I draw great inspiration from watching our clients give so much of themselves. That’s why we come to work every day: to bring out the best in each other, grow stronger together and deliver exceptional value to them.

I’m proud to be leading this amazing organization. And I know I’m fortunate to enjoy the support of a leadership team that has the breadth and depth of experience and expertise that will ensure MD delivers exceptional service to our clients and our partners today, and well into the future.

While it’s true that change is the only constant in life, it also makes the things which stay the same that much more special.
